Fun Beer Consumption Facts During The "Big Game"

The two things that stand out to me about the Super Bowl is, it costs A LOT of money to run an ad and there will be A LOT of beer being consumed through out the country.

Bud Light Platinum Release Party

Anheuser-Busch has decided to come out with a new experiment.

In January, Anheuser-Busch is releasing Bud Light Platinum. It's got more alcohol than either Bud or Bud Light, and more calories than Bud Light.

Bud Light Platinum is 6% alcohol by volume. Bud Light is 4.2% and Budweiser is 5%.

Bud Light Platinum has 137 calories in a 12-ounce can or bottle. Bud Light has 110, Bud has 145.

It has hit the Texas market and will be debuting nationally Janurary 30th. Look for the Bud Light Platinum ad that will be airing during the Superbowl.

Silver Eagle Distributers had a launch party and they were kind enough to extend an invite to Garf and I. I am always down for a party.

It Is About Time A Brewery Brews With Cumin And Hisbiscus!

What does Houston need more of? Craft Breweries!! To help make that happen is a very experienced young man named Rassul Zarnifar. According to Rassul’s business card he is the Founder/CEO of Buffalo Bayou Brewing Co. (Click the photo to see a gallery from Yaga's Chili Quest and Beer Fest)

I caught up with Rassul at Yaga's Chili Quest and Beer Fest in Galveston this past weekend. He poured me one of his brews and explained about the next craft brewery in Houston: Buffalo Bayou Brewing Co. Part 1

I like a brewery that pushes out the experimentals. I don't know about you, but I definitely want to try a beer brewed with cumin and hibiscus. Sounds interesting!

The Largest Brewing Company In America Is...

The Largest Brewing Company in America is . . . Yuengling!

Budweiser is owned by a Belgium company. MillerCoors is owned by a British one. Pabst is located in the U.S., but outsources their brewing to other countries. Which begs the question . . . who's actually making beer in America anymore?

According to the latest numbers, the biggest U.S. brewing company is now . . . Yuengling. They're in eighth place overall in the country with a 1.2% market share.

If you're not familiar with Yuengling, they're actually the oldest brewery in the country, and they're based in Pennsylvania . . . where they're HUGE

The second-biggest American brewing company is the Boston Beer Company, which makes Sam Adams.

For some reason, CNN decided to go to bars in New Hampshire and see if the beer people drink has any connection to the candidate they're voting for in the GOP primary.
